Susie, Hadley and I got to Skype with
Alyssa today. She is doing absolutely wonderful in the California Oakland/San
Francisco mission. We had a great conversation.
Then we got a little Christmas miracle.
We got a picture of Alyssa and her companion at the Oakland Temple Visitors
Center from Susie's friend Jill. It turns out one of her childhood friends she
grew up with lives in Arizona but was visiting family in Oakland, CA. They went
to the temple today for Christmas where she took a picture with Alyssa &
her companion. Susie's friend Jill recognized Alyssa and sent the picture to
us. What a wonderfully small world we live in!
After talking with our sweet daughter
and feeling the extreme love for her, I had a thought I wanted to share. Can you
imagine what it must be like for our Father in Heaven today? For those of us
who are away from loved ones and recognize how much we love them, think about
how Heavenly Father is feeling about having to send all of his children to
earth on a "mission". To watch us struggle, watch us succeed, miss us
dearly, and realize the love he has for us. It's an overwhelming thought and
made me want to work harder to make my Father in Heaven proud just like our
daughter is making me proud!
